Sony VGP-BPS2 Battery Introduction
Generally, a Sony VGP-BPS2 battery can last 2-4 years depending on how frequently it is charged and discharged. If you travel and use your Sony laptop with VGP-BPS2 battery a lot, the battery may die in few years.
To get the most use of your VGP-BPS2 laptop battery, you have to take care of it as the following:
a. Always use your Sony laptop on a hard surface.
When your Sony laptop is sitting on a soft surface, your notebook computer fan cannot circulate the air properly, and your laptop might be overheated. It will shorten the VGP BPS2 battery life since heat is one of the biggest obstacles to laptop battery life longevity.
b. Full charge cycles are needed.
As we mentioned above, Li-Ion batteries can be charged 500-600 times, we have to fully charged the Sony VAIO VGP-BPS2 battery whenever we charge it to maximize the usage.
c. When using your Sony laptop on an AC adapter, remove your VGP-BPS2 battery from your laptop.
Only charge the Sony VGP-BPS2 battery when you need, do not leave it plugged in your laptop all the time. A constant charge over months will reduce your battery life.
